A North Carolina native, Kel was raised in Greene County until moving to Sanford in 1973. He is a 1981 graduate of Lee County High School and attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina where he earned a BSBA from the College of Business in 1985.  Kel is Managing Partner of The Normann Financial Group, LLC and holds a series 65 as a Registered Investment Advisor, as well as his series 7, 8 and 63 registrations.  He also holds his life, accident and health insurance licenses, making him highly qualified to assist clients with their investment management and retirement and estate planning strategies.

Kel has worked in the investment business for over 30 years.  Before creating The Normann Financial Group in October 2015, Kel spent 30 years with Wells Fargo Advisors and all the predecessor firms dating back to Interstate Securities where he began his career.  Kel and his team specialize in wealth management advisory services for high net worth families, small businesses and non-profit organizations.  Kel ranks among the Top Advisors in the country and has been recognized by numerous industry publications such as Forbes, Research Magazine, Barron’s “America’s Top 1000 Financial Advisors” for three years in a row and now as a Barron’s “America’s Top 1200 Financial Advisors” for last three years.

Kel currently serves on the board of trustees at East Carolina University and chairs the Audit Committee for the Board.  He also serves on the board of the East Carolina University Foundation and has served as the chairman of the investment committee for the ECU Foundation and Endowment for the last 15 years.  He is currently serving his second term as a trustee on the Meredith College Board of Trustees and serves as vice-chair of its investment committee.  Along with his service to boards of higher education, Kel serves on the board of directors for the Lee County Education Foundation, where he was one of the founding members and is a past president.  He was one of the founding board members for the Lee County Boys and Girls Club, where he served for 15 years and is a past president.  He is also currently a member of the N.C. Methodist Pension Fund Board in Raleigh.  Other past service includes serving on the board of directors for the Sanford Rotary Club, the Central Carolina Community College Foundation Board and The O’Neal School Board of Trustees.  Kel is a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and has served on its administrative board, the finance committee, staff parish and as its lay leader for three years.

Kel and his wife, Parker, live in Sanford and have one daughter, Jordan, who is married to Murphy Paderick also from Sanford.  Murphy is employed with Kel at The Normann Financial Group.  They have one child, Mary Charles.
