Bobby Owens

Bobby Owens of Manteo, a restaurateur, has a long history of public service. He is a current or former member of a number of local and statewide boards and commissions,  including the N.C. Utilities Commission, the N.C. Bank Commission, the University Health Systems board, the N.C. Parks and Recreation Commission and the N.C. Tax Study Commission. 

He also served 21 years on the Dare County Board of Commissioners, chairing the board for 13 of those years. He received the Dare County Businessman of the Year award and the Manteo Citizen of the Year Award for his support of education and technology in Dare County schools. He was appointed to the ECU Board of Trustees by Gov. Beverly Perdue in 2011.
