Andrew H. Griffin

Andrew Griffin is the 2008-2009 Student Government Association President at East Carolina University. He is a senior majoring in finance through the School of Business. Mr. Griffin has become involved in many organizations on campus and is excited about the upcoming year with Student Government Association.
Since becoming a student at East Carolina University, Andrew has become involved in a number of organizations on campus. During his freshmen year he joined Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, where he is the current President and former Scholarship Chair. For the past year he has been a member of East Carolina University’s Rugby Club. He has also been a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars since his freshmen year. During his sophomore year he was accepted into the Order of Omega, a prestigious organization for top Greeks on campus. As of last year he became a member of the Ducks Unlimited and also received one of two Independent Insurance Agents Scholarships from the School of Business.
Andrew thinks that along with a strong connection with the university and its students it is equally important to give back to the community and participate in service projects. The main project he has been involved with is his Fraternity’s National Philanthropy, the Ronald Reagan Alzheimer’s Association. Andrew is also a big supporter of helping others in any way possible when it comes to scholastics. When he was the Scholarship Chair for Tau Kappa Epsilon, he developed his own scholarship fund that promoted competition as well as achieving better grades.
An alumnus of Fuquay-Varina High School in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, Andrew served on student council as well as being a part of the Varsity football and basketball teams. He also worked as a church summer camp counselor and bus driver for the past five years during his summer breaks.
Andrew is a determined, enthusiastic leader who wants to get students involved at any level and that is the way a student government will succeed at any college campus.
