Thank you for visiting East Carolina University’s Budget Information web site. We have developed this site to provide current information on the economic challenges and decisions facing this institution and the entire state of North Carolina.

This site is a successor to that of the University Budget Task Force, which has completed its work. The task force was charged by Chancellor Steve Ballard to solicit feedback from across the campus regarding budget-cutting and revenue-generating strategies. Once the members of the task force discussed and compiled the information, a final report was prepared and submitted to the Chancellor’s Executive Council. (To read the report, click here.) The chancellor then organized nine small work groups to address some of the recommendations. For example, work groups have been formed on information technology, communications and marketing, human resources, and parking and transit.
The work groups have been asked to move swiftly to address their respective areas with a focus on cutting the overall budget. The groups are composed of staff and faculty and led, in most cases, by a vice chancellor. The chancellor expects to have recommendations from these groups by July l.

This is a challenging time for all of us. Our desire is to be as transparent as possible about the ways in which we are dealing with the state budget deficits and mandates. We continue to welcome your ideas as we move into the summer and new fiscal year.

Please check this site often for updates and new information.
