East Carolina University encourages participation by MWBE firms and supports UNC system's policy of ensuring and promoting opportunities for minority businesses.

The University has established a Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program to ensure and promote Equal and increased opportunities for the design and construction community, including businesses owned by ethnic minorities and women who have been historically underutilized to participate in ECU construction projects.

Contractors seeking to offer quality work and services in support of East Carolina University's mission of education, research and healthcare should contact the HUB Officer.

A HUB is defined as a business operated by anyone who is African America, Hispanic, Asian, Native America, a woman of any race, or a person with a disability.  Firms may be certified as a HUB Contractor if it meets the  Minority Business criteria:

b. Of which the management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more of the minority persons or socially and economically disadvantaged individuals who own it.

Interested parties may contact the HUB Liaison Officer to review and evaluate examples of past successful bid documents.
