Description of Work
The primary goal of the renovation is to correct deferred maintenance needs. In addition, the renovation is to address conversion of this building to general academic use to accommodate enrollment growth on the East Campus, reducing the need for new construction. The current occupants, the School of Allied Health, are scheduled to vacate the building in early January 2006 to new facilities at the Health Sciences Campus. The Carol Belk Allied Health Building will gain much flexibility and utility through asbestos abatement and renovation.
The University’s schedule for this project is to begin construction in mid February 2006. The schedule coincides with the completion and occupancy of the new Nursing, Allied Health and Health Sciences Library Complex.
