Environmentally Preferable Procurement
Executive Order 156 stipulates that state agencies shall procure and use environmentally preferable goods and services, including products made wholly or in part from recycled materials, whenever feasible and practicable. All electronic office equipment including, but not limited to computers, monitors, printers, scanners, photocopy, fax machines, and other such equipment shall be Energy Star compliant.
NC General Statute 143-58.2 stipulates all State departments, institutions, agencies, community colleges, and local school administrative units shall, to the extent economically practicable, purchase and use, or require the purchase and use of, products with recycled content.
NC General Statute 143-58.3 stipulates each department, institution, agency, community college, and local school administrative unit purchase paper and paper products with recycled content.
