Performance Evaluation System (PES)

Guide to Final Evaluations

PES

 

1.     At the PES Main Menu, choose ‘Edit an Existing Work Plan’

 

2.     Choose ‘Edit a Work Plan’

 

3.     Select an employees work plan

 

4.     Scroll down to Actual Results; add comments and ratings to each page.

 

5.     Return to Main Menu.

 

6.     Choose ‘Evaluate an Employee’

 

7.     Click on ‘Final Evaluation’

 

8.     Select the employee to evaluate

 

9.     Assign a final rating (Overall Rating) to the employee.  This is the only time this summary page   will be viewed.  If you would like a copy for your records, print this page at this time (by using print screen)

 

10.    Click Enter when you are ready to proceed

 

11.    Enter overall comments for the employee to view

 

12.    Return to the PES Main Menu

 

Work plan is completed and is ready to be viewed by the employee

 

13.    Choose ‘Edit an Existing Work Plan’

 

14.    Click on ‘Edit a Work Plan’ and select the appropriate work plan

 

15.    Scroll to the bottom of the page and check boxes to Release Work Plan and Release All Page Ratings, and click Enter.  Once you click Enter, the Final Evaluation will be sent to the employee to view – you will not be able to edit the comments and ratings once the evaluation is released to the employee.

 

16.     Notify the employee that his/her Final Evaluation is available for viewing and schedule a time for the two of you to discuss the evaluation one-on-one

 

17.     Employee should enter their comments at this time.  Employee will select “Evaluate an Employee”, and then select “Post Comments” and then they will receive a blank screen to input their comments. 

 

Viewing Your Evaluation

At the PES Main Menu, choose ‘View an Existing Work Plan.’  Your annual evaluations including Actual Results and Employee Ratings will be shown for each Key Responsibility (KRR) and Dimension.

 

Certifying your Evaluation

 

After meeting one-on-one with your supervisor and discussing your evaluation, return to the PES Main Menu, and choose ‘Evaluate an Employee,’  then select ‘Post Comments.’   Here you will be able to view the overall comments from your supervisor.

 

You will be given an opportunity to make comments of your evaluation.  If you decide not to make any comments, type your initials and click ‘Certify’ - Clicking ‘Certify’ submits your evaluation to the ECU Human Resource Office.  Human Resources ask that even if you do not want to comment, that you type in “I have read my evaluation.”  Certifying and/or typing the “I have read my evaluation” comment does not mean you agree with the evaluation – it only means that you have viewed it.

 

Printing the Final Evaluation

 

From the PES Main Menu, choose ‘Print an Existing Work Plan’ and follow the instructions provided by the system itself.  If asked, open the document using Microsoft Word.

 

Copies of the Final Evaluation

 

Anyone using the PES system is not required to submit a hard paper copy of the Final Evaluation System to the ECU Human Resources Office.  However, you may want to keep a paper copy for your department files.
