ECU Physicians

ECU Physicians is the group practice of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. The school of medicine was established in 1975 by the North Carolina General Assembly to undertake a three-fold mission:

  • To train physicians in primary care
  • To provide access to medical education to minority and disadvantaged students
  • To enhance the health status of the residents of eastern North Carolina

The school has distinguished itself as a leader in rural health and primary care medical education. It admits 72 students to each of its entering classes and is involved in the training of 250 resident physicians each year. The school also offers the doctorate of philosophy degree in sciences basic to medicine.

We practice at 13 sites in Greenville, with offices at the Medical Center beside Pitt County Memorial Hospital and also at easy-to-reach locations within the community. We are also associated with many outreach efforts throughout a 29-county region of eastern North Carolina. We are caring professionals committed to providing the best medical services available in a welcoming setting, to educating tomorrow's doctors and to finding answers to our most pressing needs.

Aware of the special problems facing the people of our area -- heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes -- we have programs that address these concerns, as well as support groups and other special services. We are dedicated to helping all patients, regardless of their ability to pay.
