What is the Treasured Pirate Award?
It is an "on the spot" award designed to recognize the special or unique contributions of ECU employees to their college/unit or to the University.

Who is eligible?
This program recognizes any permanent SPA, CSS, EPA employee at their respective college/unit level. The criteria for nominations, selection of recipients and delivery of awards will be handled by each college/unit.

How many awards are there?
A specified number of awards are made available to each college/unit according to the number of employees within the division. Each award is given to an individual employee, not a group or team. For all members of a group to receive an award, each should be nominated individually.

What can I win?
The program provides recipients an award certificate, a gift of the recipients choice from the
Treasured Pirate Reward Gift Catalog, and another distinguishable gift. If you would like to nominate an employee, please take the time to fill out the Nomination Form via OneStop. After a department has selected an employee to receive The Treasured Pirate Award, the division coordinator will notify the Department of Human Resources and submit the information to the Staff Development Specialist.

Award Criteria:
Each college/unit develops its own specific award criteria.
Below is the list of overall criteria categories:

• Effective Leadership
• Cost Effectiveness
• Enhancing Employee Morale
• Outstanding Delivery of Service
• Display of Creativity and/or Initiative

The Treasured Pirate Award program is coordinated by the Staff Development Unit of the Department of Human Resources, and is supported through the generous sponsorship of TIAA-CREF.
