The following words are officially registered federally in association with the University and its athletic teams. The "official" typefaces of Centaur and Gotham should be used for East Carolina University publications.

* Word marks that include a University designation paired with the word Pirates must appear in purple, gold, black, or white. They may appear on any color background. All others may appear in fashion colors except powder blue and red.
Unacceptable Uses
The University and its teams or other affiliates should not be referred to by the following terms.
