What made you choose ECU?



I fell in love with the Pirate Pride throughout the community. Everyone was so nice when I came as a little, lost freshman on the tour asking for directions. I really liked the big southern university feel in a smaller town. I had visited other campuses that were so separated and didn’t have that feeling of everyone being together.



What are some of the things you are most proud of at ECU?



The opportunities and the extracurricular activities that the university provides to so many different types of people. There’s really somewhere for every kind of person to fit in and to find something that they enjoy. Also, we are not fair-weather fans!



What is your best ECU memory?



Studying abroad in Italy through ECU. I went with the School of Communication for a three-week program. Traveling makes you see the world differently. Venice was unbelievable, and being in Rome with all the history in front of me was awesome. The trip was the most amazing and fulfilling three weeks I've ever experienced!



Anything else you think people should know about you?



Through my job with Dr. Virginia Hardy, the vice chancellor of student affairs, I met the ECU alumni members of the investment group the Capital Food Group. This group, including the principle investor, Reid Fogleman, are opening a Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers Restaurant in Greenville. I have a communications and marketing internship with them, and it’s been a really exciting experience! I couldn't be happier to be working for such successful Pirate alumni.



How exciting! Tell me more about your internship.



It has been such a cool experience to see a business built from the ground up. I have been involved in literally everything that goes into the communication/marketing side of opening a business. I have learned that I like wearing multiple hats because it’s really interesting and exciting! I have been involved with social media, communicated with the charities we gave donations to, and kept in contact with the news and radio stations. To me, the PR aspect is really fun, but I also really enjoy marketing. I got the exact internship and dream opportunity that fits me pretty well.
