What are some of the things you are proud of at ECU?

ECU is becoming well known across the country and is a viewed as a respectable university. I love going back home and seeing Pirate bumper stickers and ECU gear being worn. I think the university has a lot to be proud of and it all starts from the school spirit.

You are a student athlete here at ECU, right? Tell me about that.

I am on the swim team, and I wish everyone could experience what it’s like to be a student athlete. I have swim practice eight times a week and weights twice a week. That means, twice a week I swim before class even starts, and when everyone is going out Friday night, I can’t because I have Saturday morning practice. Being a student athlete, I have to balance my grades and social life, but it is so hard because my leisure time is consumed by swimming. Though it is tough and physically and mentally draining, it has been the best experience of my life. Coming into college I was given 60 teammates from all over the world. These people have not only become friends but my family, as well. We spend hours and hours with one another and work together to fulfill our goals. This experience has been the most rewarding thing in my life.

Tell me about your internship experience.

I recently interned at Sirius XM Radio. That was an awesome experience. I was able to do a lot of hands-on work. I learned how to edit and do cuts and I participated on air. Now I am interning at Pirate Radio.

How has being at ECU changed you?

I have grown so much as a person. I have become more independent and focused on my career goals.

Upon graduating, what will you miss most about ECU?

I will miss being a Pirate. My time at ECU has been so fun and at the same time very rewarding. Through this journey, I met amazing new friends and have learned so much to prepare me for the real world. This experience will be the most memorable thing in my life.
