East Carolina University prepares more teaching professionals for North Carolina schools than any other university.
Graduates of the College of Education have been recognized as Teachers of the Year at the local, state, and national levels.
The College of Education received a national award for Wachovia Partnership East, a teacher preparation program led by ECU and involving area community colleges and public schools. The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education gave the College of Education the Best Practice Award for Collaboration with Community Colleges.
Project STEPP (Supporting Transition and Education through Planning and Partnerships), initiated in the College of Education, is a collaborative program involving a number of colleges, schools, and divisions on campus, as well as area high schools and community resources. The program offers comprehensive academic, social, and life skills to students with significant learning disabilities and who show potential to succeed in college.
College of Education faculty have been recognized on the local, state, and national levels for their service, research, and teaching methods.
