In 2008, the Women’s Roundtable renewed its mission to support ECU and, under the leadership of a board of directors, focused its philanthropic efforts on raising funds for ECU’s Access Scholarship program.
The Access Scholarship program provides a unique opportunity to assist a historically underserved but greatly deserving group of ECU students who demonstrate both financial need and proven academic potential. Since 2008, the Women’s Roundtable has given over $90,000 in Access scholarships to very deserving students.
In 2011, the Women’s Roundtable Board of Directors made the commitment to fully endow the Kathy A. Taft Memorial Women’s Roundtable Access Scholarship at $125,000 in memory of founding member, Kathy Taft. Also in 2011, Kay Chalk, first chair of the Roundtable Board of Directors, committed to endowing the Kay Chalk Women’s Roundtable Access Scholarship.
