Annual Holiday Drive Begins

ECU Business Services is sponsoring the 11th Annual ECU Holiday Drive, a campus-wide effort to collect gifts and goods for children and families in need.

Holiday Drive staff coordinate the effort through collaboration with local agencies such as the Pitt County Social Services Children’s Protective Services Unit and Adult Services Unit. These organizations help to identify families and children in the community who need assistance for the holidays.

This year’s plan is to place 50 collection boxes across campus for donations of toys, clothing and non-perishable food. ECU faculty, staff and departments may participate with donations to the collections boxes or by sponsoring a child, family or elderly individual. Sponsors are provided a wish list of items for a specific individual or family.

Departments may also request placement in their area of either a general collection box for a variety of items to be sorted later, or a specific collection box to accept donations of such items as non-perishable food.
Collection boxes were placed around campus beginning Nov. 7, with a final pick-up date of Dec. 9.
