Police Seek Accreditation
The ECU Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of the department’s effort to achieve national accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
A public information session will be held 5 p.m. on Dec. 11 in Mendenhall 244. Police department employees and community members are invited to offer comments at the session, or by calling 737-1580 on Dec. 11 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Comments in both venues are limited to 10 minutes and must address the department’s ability to comply with the CALEA standards. The program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
