State Employees Combined Campaign Draws to a Close

The State Employees Combined Campaign on ECU’s campus nearly reached its goal of $235,000 when it ended Nov. 30.
According to John Toller, Human Resources director and a co-chair of this year’s campaign, 24.2 percent of ECU employees donated $195,933 towards the goal. Alta Andrews, associate dean for community partnerships and practice in the College of Nursing, also served as co-chair.
“Overall, the participation given the economic situation has been very good,” Toller said. “We’re still hopeful that we can surpass the goals for participation and funds. In an unstable economic situation, the faculty and staff have been generous in their donations.”
Toller said even though the official end date has passed, employees can still donate. Employees should send completed forms to the Human Resources Office or their division’s coordinator.
“I think participation has been very good. We extended the goal for the university’s level of participation to 30 percent and the goal for the amount raised this year. And we’ve done marginally better. But, as always, we could do better as an institution,” he said. Last year’s campaign raised $210,784 with 27 percent of employees participating.
As the campaign closed, the athletics department held the lead of the top participating division – 43 percent of employees. University Advancement and the College of Technology and Computer Science tied at 38 percent for second place.
