COLLABORATIVE NURSING RESEARCH DAY: Karen Krupa, ECU School of Nursing faculty member and president of Beta Nu chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, welcomes participants to the 16th Annual Collaborative Nursing Research Day held March 2. The conference focused on clinical simulations in nursing education, and was sponsored by the School of Nursing, University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, Beta Nu chapter and the Eastern Area Health Education Center. Eighteen research posters presented by nurse faculty, graduate nursing students and clinical nurses explored topics such as diabetes, bariatric care, mental health nursing, nurse retention, heart disease and more. Laura Gantt (Nursing) and doctoral nursing student and PCMH education specialist Daphne Brewington were named winners of the $1,000 Collaborative Research Award, which supports a research project between a nurse faculty member and a Pitt County Memorial Hospital clinician.
