Pieces of Eight

Perry Ennis (Materials Management) takes his fifteen-minute turn during The Reading of the Names and Remembrance Vigil, an event held throughout the day on March 21 to honor those who were lost during the Holocaust. For nine hours, volunteers from across campus read the names of children and young adults who perished, along with published diaries and memoirs. Sponsored by the ECU Volunteer and Service Learning Center and the Holocaust Remembrance Committee, the event aimed to raise awareness of ongoing intolerance and genocide in the world. The readings took place at the Sonic Plaza just outside of Joyner Library. (Photo by Zach Sirkin)
