Pieces of Eight

BOOK COLLECTION: ECU English professor Seodial Frank Deena last summer donated 3,000 books to the University of Belize on behalf of ECU and the late Gay Wilentz (English). Above, the Belize university provost (right) presents the “Gay Wilentz Special Collections” section at the library while offering thanks to John Sabella (Agromedicine). Sabella was married to Wilentz. This year, Deena is spearheading an effort to deliver thousands of books worth more than $200,000 to the University of Guyana. He has collected 10,000 books representing all disciplines, including medical books. Deena is still accepting fiction and non-fiction, up-to-date textbooks, hardbacks and paperbacks. He plans to document, catalog, pack and ship the books to Guyana by the end of the semester. Interested persons may drop off books to volunteers at Bate 3123 and 2105, Brody 3E-129, Science and Technology 501, Speight 126, and Brewster A-317. Contact Deena at 328-6683 or for more details.
