ECU Scholarships Available

ECU’s Office of University Development has announced the availabilty of scholarship awards for the 2008 – 2009 academic year.

Children of current SPA or CSS employees at ECU are invited to apply for the $1,500 Children of SPA Employees Scholarship.

Awards are made to students who have been accepted for admission or who are currently enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at ECU. Applicants may be stepchildren or adopted children of university SPA or CSS staff members. Students must be pursuing their first undergraduate degree and have a projected or actual collegiate grade point average of at least 3.0.

Selection is based on academic performance, school and community activities and leadership potential. Applicants will not be restricted because of curriculum choice, sex, age, race, ethnic background, religious beliefs or political affiliation.

Application deadline is April 18.

The James M. Cox, Jr. Foundation Daily Reflector Scholarship will present two $2,500 annual awards to undergraduate ECU students who are interested in pursuing a career in a media-related field.

Fields of study may include but are not limited to journalism, advertising, art, accounting, and computer services. The recipients of the scholarship are also invited to compete for a possible internship with the newspaper.

Recipients must be at least an ECU junior with a minimum of two full-time semesters remaining until graduation (not including summer school), demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in a media-related field, have a minimum 3.0 collegiate grade point average in the last academic year and no grades below a C in area of academic major. Submit scholarship application and supportive materials by April 14.
