SCHOLARSHIP WINNER: Raymond Thomas Williams (left) is the recipient of the 2008-2009 Children of SPA Employees Scholarship. He is pictured with his mother, Ramona W. Williams, an SPA employee in the Brody School of Medicine Health Science Personnel Administration. A rising ECU junior, Raymond Williams is a political science major and history minor. He has been recognized on the dean’s list and chancellor’s list and is a two-time recipient of the Jarvis Leadership Award. He is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the Golden Key International Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma, Pi Sigma, Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society, Cotten-Fleming-Jarvis Hall Government, the Residence Hall Association, and the Student Government Judicial Board. He volunteers for Pitt County Memorial Hospital, the Salvation Army and ECU’s Multicultural Day. Williams worked on campus this summer as an orientation assistant. The $1,500 scholarship for ECU students is awarded based on academic performance, school and community activities and leadership potential. (Photo by Joy Holster)
