State Employees Combined Campaign Under Way

East Carolina University’s annual State Employees Combined Campaign was launched in October with a goal this year of $200,000.

As of Oct. 25, the second week of the program, approximately 500 ECU employees had made online pledges totaling $112,566. Many others had contributed by paper form.

Campaign co-chairs for 2010 are Kit Roberson (Allied Health) and Adeea Rogers (University Unions), and the vice chair is Sharon Collins (IT Academic Computing).

The SECC is designed to centralize and simplify employee charitable giving by providing for only one approved charitable campaign. Weekly drawings for participants encourage donors with prizes such as tickets to Pirates football games and performing arts events, jewelry and gift cards for local merchants and restaurants.

Campus and e-mail notification forms were distributed to all employees in early October, providing details on how to donate online through payroll deduction and credit card pledges, or via cash or check with a paper form. Online giving requires a $5 per month minimum, and deductions will begin Jan. 1, 2011. Paper forms were provided in information packets or may be acquired from division team leaders.

The program will run through Nov. 5, but pledges and donations will be accepted until the first of December.
