ECU Faculty, Staff Encouraged to Nominate Graduates

The Alumni Association at East Carolina University is encouraging ECU faculty and staff to nominate a Dec. 2009 or May 2010 graduate for the Robert H. Wright Leadership Award.

Presented to seniors during annual commencement exercises, the prestigious awards recognize academic achievement, service to the university and the community, along with both potential and exhibited leadership qualities.

In addition to those qualities, recipients should exemplify those characteristics that will lead him or her to make a positive difference in a profession or community. Overall academic average should be at least 3.5 through the first semester of the graduation year. Students with extraordinary achievements, whose GPA is slightly lower than 3.5 may also be nominated.

Nominations are due Feb. 28, and should be accompanied by a transcript and at least one letter of recommendation from the academic unit.

Nomination forms are available at http://www.piratealumni.com/wrightaward. For additional information or questions, contact the Alumni Center at 252-328-6072.
