HOLOCAUST AWARENESS: Volunteer Katy Ross lights one of the 1,000 candles on the ECU campus mall during the 6th annual Holocaust Awareness Day April 13. Sponsored by the ECU Volunteer and Service-Learning Center, the event promoted the national remembrance theme, “Stories of Freedom: What You Do Matters.” Volunteers read names and stories of the men, women and children who died during the Holocaust. The nationwide Days of Remembrance was established by the U.S. Congress, who also mandated the creation of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum as an ongoing memorial for victims.
