OUT FOR A WALK: A team of 10 walkers from ECU recently completed a 60-day trek toward the west coast as part of a program developed by the State Wellness Coordinator and supported by the governor’s office. More than 220 teams of 10 people each from agencies and universities across the state shared a goal of walking 4,011 miles to San Diego in 60 days (April through May). The ECU team, nicknamed Walking the Plan, competed successfully. They walked a total of 2,716 miles (5,432,810 steps), finishing just outside of Corpus Christi, Texas. Angela Wilson led the team by completing more than 450 miles (an average of 7.5 miles per day). ECU team members pictured above from left to right are: Renae Williams, Budget; Claudia Jolls, Biology; Angela Wilson, Systems Coordination; John Toller, Human Resources; Anne Suggs, Systems Coordination (team leader); and Patricia Richards, Budget. Team members not pictured are Kelly Zimmer, Systems Coordination; Lisa Whitehurst, Budget; Stephanie Mele, Institutional Trust Fund; and Margie Boyd, Campus Operations. The state plans to sponsor another walking competition in the fall. (Contributed photo)
