Joyner Library Events, Services Offered for Fall Semester

East Carolina University’s Joyner Library has prepared a number of events to coincide with the startup of the fall 2010 semester.

A Technology Petting Zoo will provide an opportunity for faculty and staff to examine handheld book readers such as the Amazon Kindle, the Sony EReader, the Barnes & Noble Nook and the Apple iPad. Library staff and ITCS colleagues will answer questions and provide assistance. The event will be held Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Joyner rooms 1415, 1418 and 1426. A FaculTea event planned for 3:30 to 5 p.m., Sept. 23 in Joyner Library Room 2409, will feature ECU historian John Tucker, presenting “JFK comes to ECC: Fifty Years On.”

The Friends of Joyner Library will host an event featuring speaker Kevin Duffus on “How Shipwrecks Shaped the Destiny of the Outer Banks,” at 7 p.m., Oct. 12, Greenville Country Club.

On an ongoing basis, ECU faculty are encouraged to offer library instruction sessions in both face-to-face and online courses. Instruction sessions are taught by librarians, who tailor the content to specific class needs. Those planning to take advantage of the sessions should submit requests at least two weeks in advance of the date needed.
