Cidex and the Use of Glutaraldehyde
If you use Cidex, please take the following steps to ensure that it is used safety:
1. Notify EH&S that you are using Cidex. EH&S will perform employee exposure
monitoring to check airborne concentrations.
2. Review the online training and take the online quiz for credit. The online training
explains the health hazards, container labeling, required personal protective
equipment, disposal and other information for safe Cidex use.
3. Download the Cidex lab safety plan and place it in your safety manual or standard
operating procedures book for staff to refer to when using Cidex.
4. Change your Cidex solution as appropriate (14 to 28 days) and always perform the
efficacy checks to determine that the solution is still active.
Nitrous Oxide
If you use Nitrous Oxide, please take the following steps to ensure that it is used safely:
1. Notify EH&S that you are using Nitrous Oxide. EH&S will perform employee exposure
monitoring to check airborne concentrations.
2. Review the online training and take the online quiz for credit. The online training
explains the health hazards, container labeling, required personal protective
equipment, disposal and other information for safe Nitrous Oxide use.
3. When your completed quiz form is sent to EH&S and you have at least 80% correct,
training credit will be confirmed in OneStop. Please allow one week for processing.
4. Download the Nitrous Oxide lab safety plan and place it in your safety manual or
standard operating procedures book for staff to refer to when using Nitrous Oxide.
Formaldehyde
If you use Formaldehyde, please take the following steps to ensure that it is used safely:
1. Notify EH&S that you are using Formaldehyde. EH&S will perform employee
exposure monitoring to check airborne concentrations.
2. In order to get training credit for this segment, register at the ECU OneStop under
University Training. When your completed quiz form is sent to EH&S and you have
at least 80% correct, training credit will be confirmed in OneStop. Please allow one
week for processing.
3. Review the online training and take the online quiz for credit. The online training
explains the health hazards, container labeling, required personal protective
equipment, disposal and other information for safe Formaldehyde use.
4. Download the Formaldehyde lab safety plan and place it in your safety manual or
standard operating procedures book for staff to refer to when using Formaldehyde.
