How to Sponsor a Youth or Support the Shelton Leadership Challenge @ ECU Through Other Donations:

"The Challenge was the best thing I have ever been a part of. Throughout the week at ECU, I was able to relate to people who had the same leadership aspirations as I do. I got to meet a lot of new friends, but they are more than friends. They are people I can go to for help still to this day. Everyone I met there has become a role model to me in their own way. By the end of my time at Shelton, I realized that I don’t have to be embarrassed to want to do good things and be a great leader, since there are other people out there just like me. I don’t think I will ever be able to thank everyone for the time that I had at ECU and for all of the things I learned!”

– Taylor Johnston, 2012 ECU Shelton Challenge Graduate, Charlotte, NC

ECU’s Office of Innovation and Economic Development and the Division of Student Affairs is seeking your help to provide more opportunities for youth, like those who have described their experiences below, to attend the Shelton Leadership Challenge @ ECU this summer.

“Shelton was the best camp that I have ever been to and it would take days for me to just explain one of the days there. All that I’m going to say is that it changed my views, made me a better person and I had the time of my life. I love the Shelton Leadership Challenge and I would love to come back and be a Peer Leader next year.”

– Ritvik Verma, 2012 ECU Shelton Challenge Graduate, Greenville, NC

We are committed to a sustainable model that allows access for any youth who wants to develop skills as a leader. It costs our program approximately $650 per youth to attend the institute, yet we ask students to pay $600. Therefore, we would like for you to consider helping us in this endeavor to sustain the program by supporting the Shelton Leadership Challenge @ ECU in one of the following ways:

  • Student Fee Scholarship of $650 per youth
  • Student Partial Scholarship of $325 per youth
  • ECU Shelton Challenge General Fund donation
  • Sponsor a refreshment break for an evening activity for $200
  • Corporate sponsor for participant t-shirts for $1,000 (corporate logo will be added to the t-shirt)
