The East Carolina University Police Department is a service oriented law enforcement agency whose primary objective is to provide services that ensure a safe, secure, and inviting environment to the university community. The police department supports the educational mission of the university by promoting safety in partnership with our students, faculty and staff.
The department's core values are: Integrity, Respect, Professionalism, Service. Each member of the department is expected to adhere to these values in the performance of their duties. The East Carolina University Police Department is a CALEA accredited police department which recognizes that we implement and utilize the best practices in law enforcement. The department employs over sixty (60) highly trained sworn police officers and support staff dedicated to making safety an integral part of the education experience. Our officers patrol the Main Campus, the Brody School of Medicine, and all other East Carolina University facilities and buildings, as well as, the areas surrounding the campus.
The department is committed to establishing and maintaining partnerships within the university and the Greenville community. The East Carolina University Police Department works collaboratively with the Greenville Police Department to ensure the safety of East Carolina University and the surrounding community. We also share working relationships with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office, North Carolina Highway Patrol, in addition to numerous local, state and federal agencies.
