MATERIALS MANAGEMENT - SURPLUS PROPERTY
NC FEDERAL SURPLUS PROPERTY AGENCY PROGRAM
What exactly is the NC Federal Surplus Property Program?
Federal Surplus Property is part of the Division of Surplus Property and was created for the specific purpose of serving as a procurement and distribution organization for surplus federal property. The property is donated by the federal government and recipients pay a service charge for the property. This property is only available to qualifying agencies such as tax-supported public agencies, volunteer fire departments or rescue squads, nonprofits, tax-exempt educational or public health institutions, etc. Federal surplus property is not available to the general public.
Some of the items available through Federal Surplus include clothing/textiles, food preparation and service equipment, furniture, vehicles, and heavy equipment. A detailed listing of Federal Surplus is available on the NC Federal Surplus Property website at http://www.doa.nc.gov/fsp/ . This site also provides information about the program such as eligibility requirements and photographs of surplus property.
IMPORTANT: All communications for federal surplus purchases should begin initially through the ECU Surplus Property Office. Contact Jane Manning by calling 252-328-9931 or by e-mailing Jane at firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information, instructions/procedures, and to request a letter of request for purchases.
Please note that there are specific limitations in the use and retention of Federal Surplus Property. Please read the Do You Know? section of the Federal Surplus Property Agreement carefully.
