Whether you have been through the publication production process before, or if this is your first publications experience, our editorial and design staff can be of service. We can offer text and graphics suggestions, assist you in scheduling the job to meet your deadline, and work with the Department of Materials Management to obtain a printing price that fits your budget. In short, we can help alleviate all of the headaches involved in the printing production process—from start to finish. Our services are free of charge; however, you should expect to pay all printing and distribution costs, plus Federal Express charges and costs associated with photography, if applicable.
It’s never too soon to think about producing a publication. If you see a need for a publication and would like to work it into the long-range plans or budget of your office, give us a call. When you call our office, we will schedule a time for you to meet with our staff to discuss your publication. We will help you think about the publication goals of your unit and how the piece will fit in with the other communication efforts of both your office and the university. We’ll also raise some basic questions about your project, such as audience, budget, and timeline.
The initial meeting is the time to discuss your ideas with our editors and designers. If there is a particular photo or illustration you would like to use, or if the publication should focus on a particular theme, this is the time to tell us. Bring along any sample publications that appeal to you.
We approach the production process as a team effort, and our editors and designers need your input to create an effective publication designed to meet your department’s needs.
