Curriculum Vita

Dr. Rebecca G. Fay, CPA, joined the faculty as an assistant professor in Fall 2011.Becky is originally from Virginia and comes from Virginia Tech where she earned her PhD.She holds both a BS and an MBA from Liberty University. Becky is a licensed CPA and has seven years of experience in public accounting.She worked as an audit manager with Cherry, Bekaert & Holland before returning to academia.

Becky's primary research interests are in IFRS and improving auditor judgments.She was the lead author on "Incorporating International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) into Intermediate Accounting," a textbook supplement developed by a team of authors from Virginia Tech that has been implemented in classrooms across the country.She has provided IFRS training seminars to accountants and professors (2010 NCACPA Education Forum, 2008 & 2009 annual conferences for the American Accounting Associations), and has contributed IFRS questions to the CPA exam.She developed an IFRS conversion case, along with Dr. John Brozovsky and Dr. Patricia Lobingier, that was published in Issues in Accounting Education in May 2011.Her audit research aims to improve auditor judgments by enhancing recognition of biases in professional judgment and improving cognitive processes at the team level.

Becky's husband Patrick also works for ECU as the Marketing and Communications Manager for the Office of Admissions.The two enjoy spending their free time with their 5 year old daughter Erin and are anticipating the arrival of their second child in June 2013.
