||Dr. William C. McDowell is an Associate Professor of Management in the College of Business at East Carolina University. He is also the Co-Editor of the Small Business Institute® Journal and Vice President of the national Small Business Institute®. He serves as the business consultant to the East Carolina College of Nursing - Masters of Nurse Midwifery program and as an East Carolina Engagement and Outreach Scholar.
Dr. McDowell has also testified as an expert witness before the United States House of Representatives Full House Committee on Small Business. He is the founder and director of The Ideal Leader: Leadership Luncheon speaker series which is a monthly leadership training luncheon designed for local entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Dr. McDowell's areas of expertise are focused on entrepreneurship and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). He has published in the Journal of Small Business Strategy, the New England Journal of Entrepreneurship, the Journal of Business and Entrepreneurship, the Journal of Business Diversity, the Journal of Managerial Issues, Organizational Development Journal, the Journal of Business Issues, and others.
Prior to joining the faculty at East Carolina University, Dr. McDowell earned his Ph.D. at the University of North Texas, his MBA from California State University - Dominguez Hills, and his BA from Southwestern Christian University.
