For Active Duty Military Students
Applying to the MBA Program
Apply online at the ECU Graduate School site. The $70 application fee is waived for military students. Immediately after applying to the program, contact the College of Business Graduate Programs office at 252-328-6970 to inform them that you have applied to the MBA program and that you are military personnel requesting a waiver. Your application cannot be processed until you contact the College of Business Graduate Programs office. Do NOT pay the $70. In addition to the application, a resume and an official transcript from every institution attended since high school must be sent to the Graduate School. Transcripts should be sent shortly after submitting your application. The final piece of the application is the GMAT score. Information about the GMAT, including testing locations, can be found at www.mba.com. The GMAT is required of every student applying to the MBA program without exception. We recommend that you take the GMAT no later than one month prior to the application deadline. All application materials must be received by the deadline without exception. For the MBA program, you are not required to submit the letters of reference or a statement of purpose essay.
After You Have Been Accepted
Once you have been admitted to the program, you will need to make an appointment to speak with your MBA advisor about class registration. Together, you will determine the classes that will be appropriate for you to take during your first semester. Your advisor is available throughout your program to assist with class selection, registration, and other needs.
If you will use Military Tuition Assistance (TA), you need to work with the Education Center on base to complete the necessary paperwork. Once you receive your TA from the base, you need to submit it to Student Accounting via email (firstname.lastname@example.org), fax (252-737-2440) or take it to Student Accounting on campus. Student Accounting accepts all Military TA except TAs for GOARMYED. Those TAs will need to be submitted to the Office of Continuing Studies.
If you are active in the National Guard, contact Financial Aid (email@example.com or 252-737-6610) about completing the last section of the TAPS form. Once the first two sections have been filled out, you can then fax the form to the National Guard office from Financial Aid's office.

Active duty military stationed at a North Carolina base may be eligible to receive in-state tuition rates. You will need to complete a Military Tuition Waiver form which must include an affidavit completed by an appropriate Military Authority - a commanding officer or anyone who "by direction" can certify a service member’s current active duty status and location as per military orders, and who can certify the relationship of the applicant to the service member if the applicant is a dependent. The affidavit must be completed on military letterhead, dated, and must be returned in its original form. Approximately two weeks before tuition is due, you will need to fill out the Military Tuition Waiver and take to The Center for Academic Services office located in 210 Whichard Building, print the form and fax it to 252-328-1505, or mail it to:

Applications for the Military Tuition Waiver will not be accepted after the first day of class. If you choose to fax these documents, please mail the originals to the Center for Academic Services as well.
You must fill this form out each academic year you are in school. Regardless of when you first complete the waiver form, you must resubmit between July 1 and the first day of fall semester in subsequent years. The affidavit is required only with the original application.
Once you have received in-state tuition, you will continue to receive this rate as long as you are continuously enrolled, even if you are transferred to another base. However, you must be continuously enrolled in the same program you were in when you applied for the Military Waiver. A service member may continue to receive the benefit of the In-State tuition rate if he is continuously enrolled in the same degree or program and is reassigned outside of NC, retires outside of NC, or is honorably discharged. If honorably discharged, the student must establish residence in NC within 30 days of separation.

If you are going to receive your TA after the tuition deadline, you need to set up a payment plan with the Cashier’s Office or pay the tuition out of pocket. Your schedule cannot be secured with just the promise of TA.
