Harriot College Center for the Liberal Arts
Welcome to the Center for the Liberal Arts home page! Established in June of 1996, this center serves as an advocate for the liberal arts disciplines and interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary programs housed in the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences. These programs encompass the humanities and fine arts, the natural sciences and mathematics, and the social sciences. Interdisciplinary programs enable students to integrate these disciplines.
The center's primary mission involves educational outreach to both persons at East Carolina and outside of the university--outreach that promotes the liberal arts in three ways.
-
The Center educates and informs through its publications about the liberal arts in the College.
-
The Center reaches out to the academic community at East Carolina University as well as to communities beyond the campus, especially those in eastern North Carolina. The activities supported by the Center provide broad academic, cultural, and professional enrichment..
-
The Center serves as a liberal arts advocacy agent to national and state level organizations, including invited presentations to members of the United States Congress.
Support the activities and goals of the Center for the Liberal Arts at East Carolina University.
