| | What is the Treasured Pirate Award? It is an "on the spot" award designed to recognize the special or unique contributions of ECU employees to their college/unit or to the University. Who is eligible? This program recognizes any permanent SPA, CSS, EPA employee at their respective college/unit level. The criteria for nominations, selection of recipients and delivery of awards will be handled by each college/unit. Award Criteria: Each college/unit develops its own specific award criteria. These criteria were unanimously approved by the Harriot College Treasured Pirate Award Committee, June 16, 2005. | | - Effective Leadership:
Employee provides insight for long-range planning, establishes clear goals and objectives for tasks to be accomplished, values input from staff, serves as a positive role model and mentor, and takes the unit/department to the "next level."
- Cost Effectiveness:
Employee provides an economical achievement for the amount of money spent. Example, employee kept actual expenses below budget and continued to offer quality event(s) or service. Employee had an alternative or new idea vs. normal actions that reduced cost. Example, employee used mass email instead of newspaper ads or flyers. Employee is very conservative with supplies, such as paper, making copies or computer printouts.*
- Enhancing Employee Morale:
Employee made outstanding contributions towards enhancing the quality and morale of the workplace by positive personal interaction with other employees, working on relations internally within an agency, or collaborating between different agencies/departments.*
- Outstanding Delivery of Service:
Employee goes "the extra yard" in helping find answers to questions and solutions to problems. If employee doesn't have an answer or asolution, he/she makes calls to find someone who does and continues searching until the situation is resolved. Help is offered in a polite and patient manner and is never "too much trouble." Employee offers positive feedback to those who are in need of services by making students, staff, and alumni feel that he/she is here to serve them.*
- Display of Creativity and/or Initiative:
Employee shares new or unique ideas, concepts, and/or methodology. Employee exhibits enthusiasm for "thinking outside the box." Employee takes action to move an idea/concept forward.
