The following are health initiatives servicing the Latino community of the United States, with a particular emphasis on the east coast:
Regional/National Health Initiatives
- CDC-National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program. Community Health Worker Program Materials.
- Center for Sustainable Health Outreach. Collaboration between the University of Southern Mississippi and the Harrison Institute for Public Law of Georgetown University Law Center.
- Colorado Community-Based Research Network. “Our mission is to conduct community-based research that empowers neighborhood organizations and residents to address their own needs and shape their own futures. The CCBRN is a network of university and college faculty, staff, and students; non-profit and community-based organizations; and foundations interested in conducting community-based research that benefits the metro-Denver area. We provide research support and training; library access and information gathering services; and coordination of fundraising efforts.” (Website).
- Community-Campus Partnership for Health. University of Washington. “Nonprofit organization that promotes health (broadly defined) through partnerships between communities and higher educational institutions. Founded in 1996, we are a growing network of over 1,800 communities and campuses across North America and increasingly the world that are collaborating to promote health through service-learning, community-based participatory research, broad-based coalitions and other partnership strategies. These partnerships are powerful tools for improving higher education, civic engagement and the overall health of communities.” (Website).

- Community-Health Workers National Education Collaborative (CHW-NEC).
- ENLACES-Fostering Latino Participation in HIV Community Prevention Planning. US-Mexico Border Association in partnership with CDC.
- Farmworker Health Services, Inc. From the website: ”FHSI provides programmatic support to health centers, Head Start programs, health departments and other organizations providing high quality, cost-effective, and meaningful health services to our nation’s farmworkers. We remain proud to be part of such a large and successful movement that for nearly four decades has pushed for outreach services, health education, prevention strategies and other grassroots health models in farmworker healthcare.”
