Harriot College Laboratory for Instructional Techology

Description:

The Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences Laboratory for Instructional Technology, currently located in Bate 2301, was created by Dean W. Keats Sparrow in 1996 to train faculty members in the use of computers in the teaching environment, allowing them to take advantage of the latest educational technology. Faculty are encouraged to focus on the pedagogy of using technology as well as classroom and distance learning communication skills. The Laboratory accommodates faculty who use Macintosh or PC platforms.

With each passing year, the Laboratory for Instructional Technology has witnessed an almost exponential growth in the interest of the faculty at East Carolina University in the use of instructional technology in their curricula. Assistance is offered to the College's 485 faculty in fifteen academic departments on a group or individual basis, including instruction in the use of presentation software such as Powerpoint, image processing software including Photoshop, course software such as Blackboard, and HTML and web page software such as Composer and Dreamweaver.

Anyone interested in using the laboratory's services should contact the director, at 328-2297.
