As Admnistrative Officer, my responsibilities include managing and maintaining the accredited laboratory animal facility within the department, including purchase of equipment, management of surgical and autopsy facilities, training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students in animal care and small animal surgery and maintaining the animal facilities under AAAALAC standards. Additional responsibilities include (1) supervising laboratory, office and classroom renovations, (2) preparing, submitting and following-up of work order requests, (3) integrating and maintaining computer technology in instructional, research and service areas, (4) surplus management (including relocation, collection and salvage), (5) safety, (6) liaison for facilities services and outside contractors, and (7) space assessment and management.

Safety management, act as liaison between OSHA and ECU Environmental Health and Safety 10. Safety management, provide safe conditions for personnel and correct potentially hazardous conditions 11. Supervises employees 12. Initiates guides, regulations, policies and references used by personnel 13. Acts as liaison between department, university units (Facilities Services) and committees (University Animal Care and Use Committee), technical and sales representatives, Information Technology personnel 14. Represents departmental needs and interests to outside vendors and contractors 15. Licensing and certification for department, including standards for use, maintaining records, and supervision of personnel for work with drugs through US Department of Agriculture Drug License and with fishes through National Marine Fisheries 16. Building Captain for evacuations and emergency situations or those involving ECU or public law enforcement, and inventory of losses and replacements
