"While working as an Instructional Assistant and as a tutor, I often evaluated upcoming educational technology tools for use in the classrooms so that students could deepen and demonstrate their understanding of the content being taught. My plan was to incorporate my love for technology with my passion for helping students with disabilities to enable them to show what they have learned.
During the research phase of my project, I surveyed the Special
Education teachers employed by Johnston County Public Schools to assess current
needs. Once needs were identified, I created a database of available tools for
classroom use. The Web 2.0 tools and Apps were organized based on
classification as a Teacher Resource or a Student Resource and
included information about ease of use and cost, as well as examples. After the
research was complete, I created a page on Google Sites with the tools and
examples of authentic use."
