Experienced staff members with specialized skills work diligently to support the academic and research efforts of chemistry students and faculty. Allen Bateman maintains our stockroom with a wide selection of chemicals, supplies, and glassware in support of research and instructional efforts. Our electronics technician, Bill Dawson, provides critical repair and maintenance on all major instrumentation in the department, as well as computer and network support. Chris Newton, our laboratory manager, is responsible for the preparation and set up of instructional laboratories and the handling of hazardous wastes. The department maintains an excellent glass-blowing facility in which specialty glassware for research and instructional activities can be fabricated in-house. Services offered by Joe Walas, our professional glassblower, include design consultation, instruction, and fabrication.
