Meeting #3, November 13, 2002, held in Brewster B205, 4:00-4:45 pm

Agenda Item 1. Approval of Minutes:

The minutes of October 22, 2002 were approved without amendment.

Agenda Item 2. Reading List:
Prof. Papalas distributed copies of suggested secondary reading in Greek history. The list was long enough that it was decided that students applying to graduate school in Classics should agree on selections with the Director. Prof. Given suggested the addition of a title by Josiah Ober.

Agenda Item 3. Classics Lecture Series:

Profs. Given and T. Wilson-Okamura reported that one noted classicist had been contacted. D. Wilson-Okamura suggested another, and the committee discussed two other possibilities locally. The subcommittee continues to pursue the matter.

Agenda Item 4. List of Minors:

Prof. Papalas canvassed the committee to see how many minors members were aware of. Prof. Stevens agreed to solicit the data from Ms. Davies.

Agenda Item 5. New Courses and Revisions to the Classical Studies Minor

The committee approved the listing of CLAS 2500 under primary electives, and CLAS 4521-2-3 under secondary electives, the deletion of PHIL 3311 and 3312 (to be banked by Philosophy), adding PHIL 1311 under primary electives and moving PHIL 2310 and 2320 from secondary into primary electives.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
