Welcome of new member Laura Mazow, from the Dept. of Anthropology and Peter Green, scholar in residence.

Prof. Perry reminded the committee of the upcoming lecture by Radcliffe Edmonds on the Orphic Gold Tablets.

Agenda Item 2. Curriculum

Prof. Romer reported on the format of CLAS 4000 on Roman N. Africa and on the planned format of CLAS 2000 in fall. Prof. Teske reported on the status and enrollment of CLAS 1300, 2220, 2230, 3400. David Wilson-Okamura announced his planned offering of GRBK 2000, Great Books of War which will have a classical component. Other faculty made announcements about publications of interest and projects underway. Peter Green discussed recent reviews.

Agenda Item 3. Student Theses

The committee heard a progress report from Shan Newton (on ancient music and rhetoric) and recommended reading for his project.
