Agenda Item 1. Election of Officers.

Prof. Stevens stepped down as Director.  Prof. Given was elected unanimously as chair.  Prof. Stevens was elected unanimously as secretary.

Agenda Item 2. Guest Lectures

The committee discussed possible speakers for 2008-09.

Agenda Item 3. Curriculum

Profs. Given and Stevens are teaching CLAS 4000 on Ancient Philosophical Literature in the spring semester.  Prof. Peter Green is returning this spring as Whichard Chair in the Foreign Languages & Literatures Department.  He will teach LATN 3700 on the Special Topic of Catullus (in Latin).

Agenda Item 4. Student Theses

Shan Newton updated progress on his thesis on the place of music in the ancient polis as represented in Plato's Republic.  The committee offered suggestsions for focussing the project into a workable parameter.
