On March 19, 2009, the Program in Classical Studies sponsored a reading of Homer's "Odyssey", complete and unabridged. It started at 8:00 a.m. and finished at 10:30 p.m. Performers included students and faculty from across the University.
Ashton Pace invoked the Muse when he performed
Book I of Homer's Odyssey
Marylaura Papalas in the voice of old Nestor
instructed Odysseus's son Telemachus in Book III
As Telemachus searched for news of his lost father,
an early-morning audience gathered
David and Tricia Wilson-Okamura embodied
Hermes and Calypso when they read Book V
Chelsea deMonch narrated how
Odysseus met Nausicaa in Book VI
Chelsea also designed the robes and
dressed each of the day's performers
