Barri Piner received her BA in English Literature from UNC-Wilmington in 1994 before attending graduate school at ECU. She joined the ECU English Department faculty in the Spring of 1998 as a lecturer and has taught both Freshman Composition courses and Interpreting Literature. Her areas of interest include Popular Culture and Film Studies. Barri enjoys spending time with her three children, whom she homeschools; playing golf; reading; and listening to music. She is a perennial finalist for the department's Bertie E. Fearing Excellence in Teaching Award, which she won in 2006.
