Sandra Tawake served as Assistant Head of School at University of the South Pacific in the Fiji Islands before coming to ECU. She was named Elaine K. Kono Scholar for service to international studies by The East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. She has served on the editorial board of World Englishes. Her publications include "Changing English in Contemporary Pacific Literature," "Reading The Bone People Cross-culturally," and "Transforming the Insider-Outsider Perspective: Post-colonial Fiction from the Pacific." She teaches courses in grammar, composition, and literature.
