Michelle Butts

Michelle Butts serves as the receptionist and is also the Administrative Assistant to the Associate Chair in the Department of English. She plans and organizes departmental graduation ceremonies. She assists in registering students for classes by serving as a terminal operator during registration. Michelle graduated from East Carolina University in 2011 with a B.S. in Public Health. In her spare time she tends to travel, crochet, read, spend time with friends and family, or listen to music.

Catherine Hathaway is the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Graduate Studies. Although born in Fayetteville, NC, she considers Greenville her home. Catherine graduated from East Carolina University in 2009 with a BA in Psychology. In her spare time, she enjoy spending time with friends and family, as well as traveling. Her favorite season is Autumn and she has a slight addiction to coffee.

 Susan Howard

Susan Howard is the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Undergraduate Studies, assists the Associate Chair with scheduling, and processes travel for faculty. A native of Pitt County, NC, Susan is an alum of Ayden-Grifton High School. She graduated from ECU in May 2005 with a B.S. degree in Family and Community Services with a concentration in Education. She also holds a degree in Travel and Tourism from Southeastern Academy in Kissimmee, Florida. When not working in the Department of English, she performs at various charity events throughout eastern North Carolina.

Ashley Hudson serves as the Assistant to the Chair of the Department of English and provides administrative, clerical, and office management support to over 90 faculty members and over 50 graduate assistants. She handles the preparation and maintenance of all personnel records, departmental budgets, purchase orders, inventories of supplies and equipment, and serves as liaison for the department with other units on campus. Originally from Florida, Ashley grew up in Fayetteville, NC before graduating from ECU in 2007 with a BA in English and a Religious Studies minor. She also serves as House Mom to the Iota Rho Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha in Greenville, NC. When not at work, Ashley enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching hockey, reading and Muay Thai. |

 Rachel Parker

Rachel Parker serves as the Administrative Assistant in the First Year Writing Studio. She manages the day-to-day activities of the First Year Writing Studio as well as the graduate student staff, and acts as a liaison between students, tutors, and faculty/staff. She also manages the adjacent computer lab located in Bate 2007. Originally from South Carolina, Rachel graduated with a MA in English from Clemson University in 2011. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, cooking, sewing, and writing.

 Tracy McLawhorn

Tracy McLawhorn is the technology editor and assistant textual editor for the John Donne Variorum Project. She maintains the project website, helps with editing the text of Donne's poems, and typesets the printed volumes. Originally from Greene County, Tracy graduated from North Carolina State University with a BA in English in 2001 and a MA in English in 2003. Tracy has presented her work on Donne at MLA ("Editing Donne in Manuscript and Print," Seattle, 2012; "Donne's 'Breake of Day' and its Seventeenth-Century Adaptations," Philadelphia, 2009), RSA ("Two Texts of Donne's 'Madam, I am not come out of England,'" Venice, 2010), and SAMLA ("Variant Versions of 'The Will,'" Charlotte, 2006). |
